Secrets From Professional:

Whether writing content for the web or for company blogs, professional writers have some great strategies when it comes to their articles. Every good writer knows that planning is one of the most important parts of the writing process. Once the outline is set, the writer will know in which direction his or her article is going and also be able to create a good introduction from that outline. Being able to integrate every paragraph to convey one main idea is another skill that every good writer possesses. Once that main idea has been established, the conclusion can be created from what has already been written. Let’s see how you as the student can learn from these professional skills.

Deeper planning

Planning doesn’t take as much time as students think. Many of them neglect this important aspect of the writing process and thereby forfeit their ability to write cohesively. By taking half an hour to look into what you want to convey and how you want to structure your essay, your actual writing will take almost no time at all. Some students do plan, but very few do so for an extended period of time. Try spending a decent amount of time creating your outline and you will soon see a huge improvement in your grade. This process should include two main elements:

  • All your subheadings should be decided upon and structured in a sensible order.
  • A single-minded statement should be established which acts as a reference while writing. Basically the whole essay should aim to convey or prove this one statement.

Using your outline to write an introduction

An important reason to create your outline first is because you can then use that outline to write your introduction. The introduction should consist of a summary of all the points you have already made. Each subheading must now act as a reference for one sentence in the introduction. But make sure your introduction isn’t just a collection of statements and facts. Let each sentence flow from one to the next. Also don’t hesitate to mix up the order of your subheadings to make more sense of the introduction.

Linking paragraphs

At this point you should have an introduction and as many subheadings as the amount of paragraphs there must be—bar the conclusion of course. From here you should write one main idea under each paragraph heading. Once you’ve done so, go one step further and write the last sentence for every paragraph. Now make sure there is an inter-leading element between the last sentence of each paragraph and the first sentence of the following one. All that remains now is to fill in the content.

Finding harmony: Your conclusion

From what you have written thus far, you should be able to gauge whether or not you have successfully conveyed your single-minded main idea. It’s now time to take that idea and elaborate on it using each paragraph you have written. Show your reader how each paragraph has served to prove your single-minded statement and consider actually ending your conclusion with your main idea. Make sure your entire conclusion conveys one idea and that you are not repeating anything you have already said without using different wording.

All of these methods are used in professional writing on a daily basis. Your essay assignments are given to you to test whether you know how to convey an idea effectively in your writing. Follow these guides and you will mimic the effectiveness shown by writers who do this for a living.
